The influence of veteranization and pruning of trees

Trees were selected for veteranization, a total of 75 in Žehuň (oak and field maple) and 10 in Velká nad Vltavou (linden), 15 in the park in Vlašim. Six types of interventions will be observed (i.) cavity in the trunk, (ii.) ground cavity, (iii.) bare wood without notches exposed to the sun, (iv.) bare wood without notches on the shaded side of the trunk, (v.) bare wood with notches exposed to the sun, (vi.) bare wood with notches on the shaded side of the trunk. In Velká nad Vltavou, it involves the removal of crowns on linden trees with a trunk diameter of 12-25 cm. At the same time, we tested the implementation of veteranization interventions in Žehun and Velká nad Vltavou.

Entomological and lichenological surveys including data processing

As part of the preparations, eclectors were tested on 10 trees in 2022 to catch insects hatching from pollard willows.

Trees were selected to compare the range of micro-habitats, a total of 400 trees on which we recorded the presence of several types of micro-habitats (dead wood, bare wood, decaying wood, cavity, fungus). Trees were selected for comparison of lichen communities, a total of 60 trees on which lichenologists record the presence of lichens
